can't find fonts on my computer

Hi, I have both ttf and woff versions of my custom font on my computer. I can see them using my file explorer, but they do not appear when I ‘browse’ for them. The folders are there, but the font files are not there. I downloaded the font files from online to several different folders to try different ways, but I can’t see any of the font-specific information when I go there from wordpress uploader. So strange!
